Asociación Pro-Cultura Puertorriqueña (APPR) is a non-profit, 501c (3) organization whose mission is to maintain and foster Puerto Rican culture, values, and traditions.
The organization is composed of a group of professional Puerto Ricans residing in Houston, Texas. It all began with the desire to unite the more than 30,000 Puerto Ricans living in Houston while promoting, preserving, and educating others regarding our customs and traditions. The goals of the organization are:
- To preserve the Puerto Rican culture in Houston by disseminating information, hosting local activities and collaborating with other associations.
To educate Puerto Rican children in traditions, language, and Puerto Rican culture.
To raise the US national percentage of Hispanics with a bachelor’s degree from 12% by granting scholarships to Hispanic students at college, master or doctoral level in Houston.
To provide support and monetary assistance to Puerto Rican patients receiving medical treatment in Houston.
