Parrandón 2001
Theme: Aguinaldos Puertorriqueños
During this activity more than 250 participants from
different Latin American countries enjoyed of typical Christmas music and food.
An audiovisual show of sights of Puerto Rico, description of its typical music
and the meaning of Christmas was presented. The tables were decorated with
traditional hats (pavas), typical candies, lyrics for aguinaldos, and our flag.
Participants also were involved in singing aguinaldos and remembering memories
of Christmas in Puerto Rico. This activity served its purpose of spreading our
values, culture, and Christmas traditions to other Latin Americans.

International Festival at Mark Twain Elementary School – 2002
For several years, we have hosted a
country booth representing Puerto Rico at elementary school activities. We
offer food, candies, tourist information, and cultural information on music,
crafts and art. We have also hosted a puppet story in Spanish featuring a
folkloric tale involving the coquí (a native frog of Puerto Rico). We have also
been involved in an International Pot Luck at Mark Twain Elementary featuring
two traditional dishes.
Parrandón 2002
Theme: Puerto Rican Music: Décima and Trova
This year we featured another aspect of our Christmas traditions. Aside from music and food, the guests were invited to join in a celebration of the trova. They engaged in traditional singing and improvisation. Over 300 people enjoyed this celebration.

Parrandón 2003
Theme: La Plena Puertorriqueña

held its annual Parrandón in December 2003 and it was fun! There were over 350
people in attendance. The theme was the Puerto Rican plena and there was
a plena show during the intermission. As always, there was not one person
sitting during the show.

Parrandón - January 2005
Theme: Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian
APPR
hosted its annual fundraiser with a very festive theme, Fiestas de San
Sebastian which attracted around 370 people. The decoration
resemble Puerto Rico's Old San Juan streets and had a dancing parade of
San Sebastian traditional "Cabezudos". Hispanics from all over
the US came to enjoy an evening of celebration.

Mark Twain International Festival - February 2005
APPR
hosted a booth at the Mark Twain International Festival. We offered
traditional food and candy as well as cultural information on music and general
information about the island. There was an interactive musical
presentation featuring a local Puerto Rican musician. The children were
able to play the instruments and learn about Puerto Rican music.

Scholarship Ceremony - September 2005 - On
September, 2005 APPR distributed its yearly scholarships to worthy students at
the University of Houston.

Plena Libre at Vitalis - October 2005
APPR
hosted a cocktail party at Vitalis Medical Spa with Plena Libre. Dinner
was served and guests were able to meet Plena Libre, take pictures and get
autographs. Complimentary massages were also available courtesy of Vitalis
Medical Spa.

Puerto Rican Power - January 2006
APPR
